The CAGE Questionnaire is a tool to help determine if you have a substance abuse problem. If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you most likely have a substance-abuse problem and need to refer yourself to PEAC for rehabilitation services. Call 410.983.0302 or 410.808.0748. The referral is confidential.

E: Ever felt the need for an EYE-OPENER in the morning?

Three Paths to PEAC Assistance

Self-Referral Referral by Pharmacists or Others Referrals by Maryland Board of Pharmacy

Pharmacists can self-refer.This is the best way to obtain PEAC help. The pharmacist can often avoid job termination and punitive action.

Once satisfied that outside reports are legitimate, PEAC contacts the allegedly impaired pharmacist to arrange a meeting and discuss the allegations.

The BOP investigates reports from a variety of sources. An administrative process determines guilt and acts to protect the public by restricting a pharmacist's practice.
Self-referrals are/do:
* Confidential
* Protected by the Maryland Practice Act Health Occupations §12-317
*Not require Board notification
*Non-punitive and support therapeutic response to recovery
*Identities of the concerned colleagues making the report are not disclosed
*Reporting parties are protected from liability when acting in good faith under  Health Occupations §12-317(d)
*Under Maryland Code of Conduct §10.34.10.05, pharmacists must report impaired colleagues to PEAC
*Pharmacists will be monitored by the Board's internal rehabilitation committee *Pharmacists are no longer required by consent order to participate in the PEAC program
*PEAC's services are available to Board-referred pharmacists for a fee.
*Pharmacists are under scrutiny by the Board throughout the treatment process
*The pharmacist's name is published in the BOP newsletter.
